You land at Kempegowda International, where a Tripfizz representative meets you past customs; the drive into town takes an hour. The rest of the day is yours — a walk under the rain trees of Cubbon Park, perhaps, or nothing at all. We meet at seven to run through the fortnight over a drink.

Lalbagh, Dosas and the Old Bazaars

Breakfast is out: benne masala dosa at Vidyarthi Bhavan on Gandhi Bazaar Road, then a filter coffee poured between two tumblers. Lalbagh follows while the glasshouse still holds cool air, and after that Bangalore Palace and the flower sheds of Russell Market. Late afternoon, a tasting at a third-wave roastery in Indiranagar sets up the coffee country ahead.

Chikmagalur

West to the Baba Budan Hills

Out early on the Tumkur road, five hours west, with a stop at Belur for the Chennakeshava temple — soapstone carved so finely the bracket figures still show fingernails. By late afternoon the ghats close in and the smell changes: wet leaf, silver oak, coffee blossom if you have timed it. Estate arrival, tea, an hour on the verandah.

Chikmagalur

Cupping Hour on the Estate

The estate manager walks you through pulping, fermentation tanks and drying yards before the cupping table at eleven — six bowls, a spoon each, no talking until the last slurp. Afterwards a jeep climbs to Mullayanagiri, Karnataka’s highest point at 1,930 metres, where Malabar whistling thrushes carry on regardless of the wind. Dinner is akki roti and country chicken.

Coorg

Over the Ridge into Kodagu

A four-hour drive south through Sakleshpur’s pepper vines and down into Kodagu. Madikeri first — Raja’s Seat at the hour the valley fills with cloud — then on to the estate above Siddapur. Coorg is a different grammar from Chikmagalur: Kodava houses with central courtyards, ancestor shrines, a rifle over the door. Supper is pandi curry with kadambuttu, steamed rice dumplings.

Dubare, Talakaveri and Abbey Falls

Down to the Cauvery at Dubare by half past seven, when the camp elephants are scrubbed in the shallows and the mahouts explain what each ear-flick means. Talakaveri afterwards, the river’s source in a small tank on Brahmagiri, and Abbey Falls with its rope bridge. Back for a late lunch of noolputtu and chicken; the afternoon is free for the pool.

Namdroling and a Plantation Walk

A morning at Namdroling monastery in Bylakuppe, where three thousand monks debate in the courtyard and the golden temple holds Buddhas eighteen metres tall. Lunch is Tibetan — thenthuk, momos — before an easy plantation walk home through cardamom and jackfruit. If your legs want more, Tadiandamol is a three-hour climb through shola forest to 1,748 metres.

To the Kabini Backwaters

Three hours east to the reservoir that drowned a maharaja’s hunting country. Check in, lunch, then the four o’clock jeep into Nagarhole: chital everywhere, gaur at the water, and — if the season and the light agree — the black panther that has made this forest famous. Sundown drinks on the jetty, elephants crossing the far bank in single file.

Kabini

Two Safaris and a Coracle

Wake at half five for the first drive; tiger pugmarks on the fire line are common enough that your naturalist will read them aloud like a sentence. Mid-morning, a coracle turn along the backwater for osprey, river tern and marsh crocodile. Afternoon drive again, or a walk to the Jenu Kuruba hamlet with the lodge’s community team. Two meals outdoors.

Mysuru

Palace City

Two hours north through sugarcane to Mysuru. The Amba Vilas palace takes a slow ninety minutes — Belgian glass, Kolhapuri turrets, the Gombe Thotti doll pavilion — and shoes come off at the gate. Devaraja Market afterwards for kumkum powder, Nanjangud bananas and jasmine sold by the arm’s length. Climb Chamundi Hill at dusk; the palace lights come on at seven on Sundays.

Ooty

Through Bandipur to the Nilgiris

South through Bandipur and Mudumalai — dawn or dusk crossings only, the road shuts at nine at night — then thirty-six hairpins up to Ooty, gaining fifteen hundred metres and losing ten degrees. At Coonoor you join the Nilgiri Mountain Railway for the last stretch, a rack-and-pinion crawl past tea, wattle and children waving from the cuttings.

Tea, Toda Country and Eucalyptus

Morning at a Coonoor tea factory — withering troughs, the rolling room, a comparison of orthodox and CTC in six cups. Then Dolphin’s Nose for the drop to Catherine Falls, and a Toda mund at Muthorai, where the barrel-vaulted huts are still embroidered in red and black. Afternoon free: the Botanical Gardens, or a fire and a book.

Coimbatore

Down to Coimbatore and Home

The descent to Coimbatore takes three and a half hours through the Kallar hairpins, and the temperature climbs as you go. Your driver delivers you to the airport for the afternoon connection to Chennai, Bengaluru or Delhi. If your flight is late, we can arrange a day room and a last plate of Kongunadu biryani before the gate.
