Two coasts, two seasons, and the mistake is booking the wrong one. Sri Lanka’s south works December to March, when blue whales pass Mirissa; from May the weather crosses to Trincomalee and Passikudah. Goa’s calm months are November to February, and the quiet is south of the Sal — Agonda, Cola, Patnem. Kerala’s Marari is a fishing village with a beach attached. The Andamans give you Radhanagar and manta rays at Dixon’s Pinnacle between January and March. The Maldives seaplanes fly in daylight only, so your London arrival time decides whether you sleep in Malé. We choose the villa by house reef, orientation and how far the sunset actually is.
