Photography Journeys

Photographers need different logistics: earlier cars, longer stops, permission to stand somewhere awkward. So we work backwards from the light. Varanasi from a boat at twenty to six with the sun behind Ramnagar; Jodhpur’s blue quarter from a rooftop we have permission to be on; Hampi’s granite an hour before it goes flat. Timing decides the rest of the year — Kumartuli’s idol makers in September, Pushkar in November, the Hornbill Festival at Kisama in the first week of December. We handle ASI camera and tripod fees, brief the driver to stop on request, cap groups at eight, and rotate the front seat so nobody spends a week behind glass.
